I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I know that I did. Getting to Skype with family was the best Christmas gift I received this year.
There is a miracle I wanted to share from last week!
On Saturday we were having a pretty slow day. Not a whole lot of people wanted to meet or talk to us. So we decided to select some former investigators who lived relatively close and we took a walk. 6 miles later we hadn’t seen a lot of fruit from our efforts until we came upon a decked out house with about every Christmas decoration ever made covering the lawn. It was cold and it was raining. A part of me wanted to just keep walking so we could get home and eat some dinner. But we both knew that we had to knock on this one last house.
Totally unexpected, a nice lady comes to the door and we ask her if we can share a message with her. She invited us right in where her and her husband were clearing the table so we could sit with them. Elder Hutzler and I were in disbelief! Never has anyone ever just let us walk right in on the spot to teach them. Let alone a normal couple who has been married for 45 years.
We taught them the Restoration and shared with them our testimonies of the Book of Mormon. They accepted the invitation to be baptized and they want us to come back. In fact, they were searching for a church to join! The Spirit was so strong. As I recited to them Joseph Smith’s experience in the Sacred Grove, tears filled the husband’s eyes as if he found what he was looking for.
It was a beautiful way to end an amazing Christmas week. My invitation to you all would be to listen very closely to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Don’t second guess them. Follow the still small voice and miracles both small and big will result. I love being a missionary. I hope you all have a Happy New Year,
