This week I got to spend a day in the ghetto of East Toledo on an exchange! It was great. I went out with Elder Pinnock who has been on his mission for a little over 6 weeks and his companion came to our area to work with Elder Hoffman. Something I learned is that we are ALL children of a loving Heavenly Father. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, He is waiting for you with open arms.
We taught this guy named Benny on his porch. Here we are in the middle of the hood of East Toledo talking to a guy who has seen more in his life than almost anyone, and he’s telling us how he called up his brother and read out of the Book of Mormon over the phone the night before. Our Heavenly Father isn’t worried about what Benny has or hasn’t done in the past; He cares about what Benny can become. And anything is possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
I invite all of you to follow Elder F. Enzio Busche’s counsel:
When you cannot love someone, look into that person’s eyes long enough to find the hidden rudiments of the child of God in him.
I KNOW that every human being in this world is child of God. Love everyone just as Jesus did and does today!
Have a good week,
